My name is Kim Moffat. I’m an independent filmmaker in Los Angeles. Normally I make shorts, a few of which you can see on my personal website. I’ve always been really interested in politics, but never been too anxious to combine politics and filmmaking.
Most of my friends don’t vote, and chances are that’s the case with you too. The fact is, America has the lowest turnout of voters in the country. It’s kind of embarrassing.
Here’s what I want to do: I want to take just a fraction of my passion and excitement about politics, and pass it on to my friends who don’t vote. I want to take just a fraction of yourpassion and excitement, and pass it on to your friends who don’t vote. I want us, together, to make real change. Right now.
This is a place where political affiliations don’t matter – as long as you have some. Be democrat, be republican, be green party… just be something.
Beginning in April 2014, and continuing through the 2016 Presidential election, We're the People will be exploring what it takes to get young adults active in politics - or at least to the polls.
Like the header says though – it’s not a movie – it’s a movement. I can’t do this alone, I want you to be involved. We’re in the prep stages right now, but once we’re up and running this is going to be a completely interactive space. I want to hear your stories about politics and voting. I want to see pictures of your “I voted” stickers. I want to hear about finally getting your friends to register to vote.
Together, we’re gonna do something big here.
